Answers to common questions
We’ve compiled a list of answers to common questions.
- Is Hisega Lodge handicap accessible?
It’s not inaccessible… but it’s not very handicap friendly. The lodge is over 100 years old and is virtually structurally the same as when it was built, our ground is uneven and could be a challenge for those with mobility issues.
We have had wheelchairs and walkers here, it is possible for them to get into the main dining room and great room in the main lodge for group gatherings, the bathroom is not always as easy but it has been done.
Most of our guest-rooms require the ability to use stairs, as they are accessed from the second floor deck. We do have one lower guest room (Lost Cabin) that does not require stairs but does require guests to walk-around the side of the building with an incline on gravel to get to the dining room/ main lodge. There is no pavement at the lodge, our parking lot is gravel and our main walkway is made of flat/uneven slate rocks.
Please take note of these things before you book and call us if you have any questions or are unsure about accessibility. Unfortunately, we are not able to give refunds upon arrival to those who have booked a room that they cannot access.
